#CULTURED KIDS OCTOBER 2017

Leaves are gently floating down outside the window.  Autumn is definitely here, the heating has gone on and I have a massive pile of logs ready for the woodburner.  Time for #CulturedKids October 2017.

#CulturedKids October 2017

September has whizzed by in a blur of back to school labelling at home and in London lots the major museums and galleries unveiling their big autumn exhibitions.  Inspired by what is on offer I have written a What’s on in London post for the first time and that will become a monthly feature.  Thoughts for what to do in half term are already swirling around, I’m keen to visit the Postal Museum and Mail Rail with the teens.

Thank you to everybody who linked up to #CulturedKids in September, I enjoyed visiting old friends and adding lots of new stuff to my to visit list.  Three posts that I especially enjoyed in September were:

Neolithic remains fascinate me.  Tots2Travel visited Orkney this summer and found so many Neolithic sites that became a bit blasé about them.  One tomb could be visited by rolling yourself in laid flat on a skateboard ….. now that sounds fit for hallowe’en.

Where to break a long car journey other than at a soulless motorway service station is always a problem.  North East Family Fun found somewhere that is not only a short skip away from the M1, but is historic, has top notch movie connections and is FREE.  Step forward Wollaton Hall near Nottingham

LONDON OPEN HOUSE WITH KIDS by Zen Baby Travel

Open House is made for the incurably curious.  I confess that weekend when places usually closed to the general public open up their doors for free is one of my favourite of the whole year (and that includes Christmas).  Zen Baby Travel obviously loves the weekend too and shared an excellent post about visiting with children.

What have you been up to this month or do you have recommendations of where to visit during half term?  I have dusted down one of my very first posts about London’s Roman Amphitheatre and am looking forward to reading your #CulturedKids October 2017 posts.
